We speak of sacrifice far too often. Sacrifice requires commitment, not when it’s easy or convenient, but when it’s absolutely necessary. Nowadays we are willing to make sacrifices when it fits into our schedules; when it doesn’t take us away from what we really want or care about. Real sacrifice demands that we free ourselves of ourselves. It requires us to look past the convenient, the temporary, the carnal and fully commit to the crucial and absolutely necessary. Commitment helps us identify what we value. Sacrifice tells us how valuable it is to us personally.
