Therefore…Again, Peter begins this section by stating the effect of the previously mentioned situation. Because Christians are living stones, the place of worship as well as a worshipping people; because Christians are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and God’s special people appointed to living a righteous life for His own glory – both presently and expectantly in the near, near future (remember, Peter is looking at the events taking place in Rome as a clear sign of the Lord’s imminent return). Since this is true, we must live holy lives even in the face of sudden destruction. And we can do this by voluntarily placing ourselves under the authority of man and man-made laws so that they will eventually honor our God.
Submit to & Honor These (2:13-3:7)
Which of the three groups mentioned by Peter do you think would be the hardest to submit and show honor to?
In which of the three areas do you presently have the most trouble submitting and showing honor to others?
How does the fact that God being glorified by someone else as a result of your response to your present situation change your view of suffering?
