Ujamaa (oo-jah-MAH): Collective economics
To build, maintain, and support our own stores, establishments, and businesses.
Businesses are established in order to meet a need. However, in some businesses, the need is pushed to the back burner in order to feed the greed that has outgrown it. Too often, what begins as a good and noble cause becomes overgrown with self – interest or it suffers lost because it is not nurtured. These things happen because people lose their way. They forget why they started the businesses to begin with. They forget how it was even possible for them to start such enterprises.
“You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 8:18).
Let us encourage and support those who are doing business rightly. Let’s support those you are reinvesting in our communities and the communities where their establishments are housed.
