Getting to Know God

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord——-2 Peter 1:2

To have our levels of grace and peace multiplied the Apostle Peter says that we will need to increase our knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

Grace is defined as being “the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life”. Grace is God’s kindness to us which motivates or energizes us to live our lives in a way that reflects what He has done in, through, and for us, the more we spend time in the presence of God the more we increase our knowledge of God and Jesus which in turn helps to increase the grace and peace of God in our lives. We can see the evidence of how true this is by looking at Jesus’ life. The Bible tells us that at a young age “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor (grace) with God and man”. The word that Luke uses to say favor is the exact same word that Peter uses to say grace, and this multiplying of grace (favor) in the life of Jesus came as a result of Him studying the word of God and being about His Father’s business (see Luke 2:41-52). Jesus was sold out to doing the Father’s will, and through the things that He experienced He was able to increase His knowledge
of God while also growing in the grace and peace of God.

Everyday God gives us an opportunity to know Him better, whether or not we take those opportunities is up to us, when we do take the time to get intimate with God we truly come to understand Who He is.

“In all your ways acknowledge [God] and He will direct your path.”
